Plac Dominikański is one of Wrocław’s most recognisable intersections and the site of one of the city’s most debated recent buildings: the new PZU headquarters, designed to stand alongside the historic tenement houses of the square.
The session was carried out in winter. Clear sky, low sun, long shadows. The building’s facade responds well to directional light the texture becomes readable and the relationship to the historic neighbours makes sense in the frame.
Contemporary architecture in a historic context
One of the recurring challenges in architectural photography in Polish cities: how to photograph a new building that exists in direct dialogue with 19th century architecture. The frame has to contain both and make the conversation legible.
